A useful sound journal: what to include in a report
A sound report is more useful when someone can understand how the measurement was made. Include the date, place description, phone and input, measurement settings, duration and interruptions alongside the numbers. State whether the units are dBFS or reference-adjusted sound-pressure estimates.

Keep comparisons reproducible
Still's full version saves sessions with names and notes, compares compatible sessions and exports PDF, CSV, HTML and PNG. Choose names that describe the condition, such as a fan setting, rather than conclusions such as safe or illegal.
Share the relevant context
A chart alone may hide the microphone route or reference state. Include those details and keep the original export. A personal journal is not automatically a certified report, legal proof or a regulatory assessment. Share only details you intend the recipient to have.
Try a repeatable approach
- Name the condition and record the measurement setup.
- Choose a format the recipient can read or analyze.
- Review the export and its units before sharing.
